About Catherine Lalut

The Art of Storytelling

Catherine Lalut is a Principal Mining Engineer with over 14 years of experience in underground and open-pit mining across Australia, Chile and Morocco. Recognised for her strategic vision and leadership skills, Catherine has held pivotal roles in global organisations, including Gold Fields, Fortescue, BHP Nickel West, Rio Tinto Iron Ore, and Codelco Chile—El Teniente, among others. Her expertise spans a wide range of mining methods, including narrow-vein operations, large-scale block caving, and open-pit mining.

Additionally, Catherine has contributed her expertise while working with Resolve Mining Solutions, an Australian consultancy, where she provided innovative solutions to complex mining challenges.

As the Founder and Executive Director of Women in Mining & Engineering WA, Catherine has spearheaded initiatives to promote gender equality, education, and professional development for women in STEM. Her leadership and community impact position her as a future board director committed to driving innovation, sustainability, and diversity in the industry.
